Mocking Time

A nostalgic juxtaposition between the new and the old; a bitter-sweet reminder that youth mocks time.

This image was in my mind long before this contest and now it’s been translated to a rendering. From an architectural point of view, it depicts one of the things I find to be most compelling and this is old train stations. For this particular one, I was inspired by the abandoned train station in Kyparissia (Greece). Abandoned train stations, may revoke feelings of sweet melancholy, in the context that the journey has ended. However, the image of a child playing in the railway tracks, ignoring the signs of decay, is the definition of how youth mocks time. The mood of the image was actually inspired by Wes Anderson’s photography, who is one my favorite directors.
